Good Works is a Christian nonprofit organization that exists to improve the living conditions for low-income families in Chester County, PA. By God’s grace the homeowners’ despair is transformed into hope. Services and supplies are offered at no cost to the homeowner.
In the face of a 66% increase in applications for assistance to Good Works in the last few years, the response of the “hope bearers”, those who care deeply and are committed to action, are giving selflessly of their time and financial resources to help low-income homeowners. There were more workdays, volunteer hours, new workday leaders, and new donors than ever before, enabling Good Works to assist more than a hundred low-income homeowners –more than ever before.
The fourth Saturday of every month the regular Good Samaritan Good Works crew gets together to work on a list of needed repairs for one home until the home is “warmer, safer, drier”. The average length of time to complete the job is one year, offering the opportunity for a deeper relationship with the family.
