Gathering Hope’s ESL Classes Off to Good Start for the Year With 60 Students from 13 Countries
Gathering Hope, under the leadership of Good Samaritan’s Meridith Ridington, crosses boundaries with our immigrant neighbors in the Malvern and Paoli areas to discover hope together. This relatively new program’s primary ministry occurs through English language instruction, and at present has 60 adult students enrolled in classes at both Great Valley High School and the Church of the Good Samaritan. Students, who pay a tuition fee, come from 13 different countries.
These classes span four levels of instruction and are taught by certified teachers and several volunteer mentors. This year, eight members of Good Samaritan are directly involved as teachers and mentors. A new advanced class was added this fall, with Chrissy Annechino working with seven students. In addition to paying tuition, students are helping to raise funds for Gathering Hope so the program can grow even stronger.
Please pray with Gathering Hope:
- As they give thanks for Good Samaritan’s role in providing space and support for the daytime ESL program;
- Pray that teachers, mentors, and the 60 students working together can realize the eager students’ goals to become more fully integrated into our community through learning the English language.
