Good Sam Associate Position

Job Title: Associate Rector (full or part time – closing date for applications – 20th May, 2018)

Location: Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan in Paoli, Pennsylvania (suburbs of Philadelphia in the Diocese of Pennsylvania)

About the Church:

Good Sam is a ‘corporate size’ church with four Sunday services - from Rite I, Rite II, blended Rite II to Contemporary. We seek to build strong community within the church, as we worship together, are transformed by Christ to better love our neighbors and grow in the knowledge of God with various small groups, Bible study groups, Biblical classes, and Sunday School classes. The church is committed to being a transformative presence in our community. We have evangelistic programs such as Alpha, our Food Closet ministry and many other partnerships with local, national and international missions groups. Additionally, we offer prayer with laying on of hands by lay prayer teams at every Sunday service, have monthly healing services, and quarterly invite every parishioner to receive healing prayer at Sunday Services immediately following receiving communion. • Is comfortable connecting with a wide diversity of people.
  • Is a capable preacher and teacher and has excellent communication skills.
  • Will help us gender-balance our team of four male clergy.

Job Description:

Along with sharing in regular clergy responsibilities, we are looking for someone who will help us connect members within the life of the church. You will have a concern for the health of our congregation and the processes by which people integrate into the life of the parish and grow in service, faith and love. The Jesus-followers you help develop will be known for their love of one another and for their attitude of service towards their families, fellow church members and wider community.

We are open to a new or a seasoned priest. The particular division of responsibilities with which you will help shape our culture and fulfil the mission described here are flexible and will depend on your skills, disposition and humility.
