Christmas Tree Sale and HELPS Ministry
The Church of the Good Samaritan has long been known for living into our Church's name by being a source of hospitality, grace, and comfort for those in our neighborhood and beyond that are experiencing hardships. One important way that we live into this central area of our Church's mission is through our HELPS ministry. The HELPS ministry focuses on giving our neighbors throughout Chester County, a helping hand during difficult times. They do this by providing funding for practical, short-term relief to our neighbors who need one-time assistance to pay rent, a utility bill, fill a prescription, pay for a car repair, or other immediate need.
As clergy, I am privileged with a front-row seat to see the fantastic work this ministry does, and I am consistently blown away by how our amazing volunteers lovingly care for these families in need.
The Good Samaritan Christmas Tree sale has served as the primary driver for raising funds for the HELPS ministry.
The Christian tradition of generosity and hospitality, especially during this season, is so often eclipsed by the busyness of the season and the temptation of consumerism. Volunteering for the Christmas Tree sale provides some simple time outdoors selling trees for a good cause, instead of standing in line at Target.
The truth of the matter is that the Good Samaritan Christmas Tree Sale is not only a source of revenue for the HELPS ministry, it is also an important part of the Paoli community. Year after year our neighbors come out to buy their tree from us and are consistently impressed by our hospitality and commitment to serving those in need.
Would you consider supporting us this year? This coming Sunday, and for the next few Sundays, we will have paper sign-ups in the Atrium and an announcement in the service about our tree sales. But why wait until then? You can follow this link and sign up for a couple of volunteer slots right now: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f4aa4a82da7fc1-christmas
Thank you for considering spending your time giving back to our community during the Holiday season.
