Food Closet Transition
“For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in…” (Matthew 25:35)
The Good Samaritan Food Closet will soon undergo a major transition as our faithful volunteer leader Charlene Fitzwater steps down and travels south to be near her family. We will sorely miss her Christ-centered leadership, compassion, and kindness.
The Food Closet leadership team is meeting and praying about who God will raise up to fill her shoes---this may be more than one person to come aboard as co-leaders, and others to shadow some of our key volunteers.
We seek people who can embrace our Mission which is a “commitment to feed bodies and souls through the love of Christ, with sustenance, respect, compassion and prayer.” Beyond that, we pray for someone who has a deep personal faith, demonstrates kindness and mercy, values team ministry, and can appreciate and encourage the gifts and skills of others.
Sounds like a tall order, but we believe there are those in our congregation who embody many of these qualities. And we trust that God will touch the hearts of those of you considering joining this vital ministry. Please pray and ask if God might be nudging you to learn more about the Food Closet and how you might contribute from the gifts and skills you’ve been given.
