Garretys' New Ministry
This summer, the missions committee and vestry approved the upcoming ministry of Nick and Kylie Garrety at Virginia Tech as a financially supported ministry. Many will remember Kylie (formerly Kylie Roberts) for her work at Good Samaritan.
This summer Kylie and Nick moved to Blacksburg, Virginia, where they are continuing their ministry partnership through CCO at Virginia Tech. CCO ministries are based on a partnership between a local church and a college or university. Part of a staff person’s financial support comes from personal fundraising, with another part coming from the sponsoring church or institution. Good Samaritan’s financial support contributes (through CCO) to Kylie and Nick’s personal fundraising for 2019.
Nick and Kylie are just beginning their actual campus ministry with students at Virginia Tech. Recently Kylie sent a note of “Thanks,” a brief update, and several ways that we at Good Samaritan can be in prayer for them and their ministry.
Dear Good Samaritan Family,
Hello from Blacksburg! I’m writing from my new office at the Bradley Center. After our big move on July 13, Nick and I spent a week at CCO training (it was great to see Dan Edwards & Ben Capps there!) and a week in Maine on vacation. We’re thrilled to be here finally and are filled with hope for this next season of ministry. We sat in on the incoming students’ orientation session today, and it only increased our excitement for the students’ arrival in August.
Would all of you at Good Samaritan join us in prayer for these areas of life and ministry?
- Transition for Nick and me (making friends, finding our way around town, and for getting into our new apartment);
- For all the freshmen preparing to arrive (that they would find a place and a home in our ministries).
Thank you for your continued prayers and support!
In Christ, Kylie & Nick
