Easter Vigil
We begin on the lawn with the lighting of the Paschal Candle, a symbol of the Risen Christ. The Vigil follows, a period of anticipation that awaits the solemn proclamation of Easter. Lessons are read, Psalms are chanted, and Collects prayed. The sprinkling of Baptismal Water reminds us of our own baptisms. Alleluias are finally proclaimed, and the Great Alleluia is sung by a cantor. The oblations of Bread and Wine are brought to the Altar. Easter has once again given birth to the Church.
