Men’s Retreat Fall 2025:
When a Man Brings His Offering

With Speaker Jack Franicevich

I’m looking forward to being with you at this year’s Men’s Retreat, where we’ll spend the weekend in the book of Leviticus, one of my favorites. Throughout its history, both Jewish and Christian readers have seen Leviticus as a theological reflection on the liturgical life of God’s people. Leviticus begins the way the story of Cain and Abel begins, the way Jesus’s adult life begins, and the way each Sunday morning at Good Sam begins: “When a man brings his offering…” (Lev. 1. 2). Reflecting on these opening words of Leviticus, the Hasidic philosopher Martin Buber wrote, “Only he who brings himself to God as an offering may be called man.” I hope you’ll join me this October as we consider these words and enjoy the weekend together. —Jack Franicevich
