Jonathan Yates and his family (Bess and Eliza) have been members of the Good Sam community for over ten years. Jonathan is a native of Georgia, where most of his extended family still resides. He is also a Professor of Historical Theology at Villanova University, where for over twenty years he has taught at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels and actively published several dozen academic articles and book chapters on Augustine and ancient North African Christianity. Recently he has also co-edited (with David G. Hunter of Boston College) Augustine and Tradition: Influences, Contexts, Legacy, and (with Anthony Dupont of the Catholic University of Louvain [in Belgium]) two volumes dedicated to the use of the Bible in ancient Christian North Africa as part of De Gruyter’s Handbooks of the Bible and Its Reception series. Jonathan main hobbies are reading, hiking, and sports. He really likes historical fiction, thrillers, and detective stories of all kinds. He’s also a huge baseball fan and is especially loyal to the Atlanta Braves, the NL East’s greatest and most-storied franchise.
