Vicar
Joining The Church of the Good Samaritan in January, 2025.
Matthew likes (and lives) the saying that Jesus meets us where we are, but loves us way too much to leave us there. For Matthew, faith in Jesus started in suburban Boston where he attended church with his parents and older sister. It was at Christian summer camp that the spark was 'fanned' into a personal relationship with Christ as Lord and Savior.
Matthew attended Virginia Theological Seminary and was ordained a priest in 2011. In 2020 he completed a PhD at the Catholic University of America, writing a dissertation on the role of Christian virtue in Bonaventure's account of St Francis of Assisi. He has served churches in Florida, Virginia, and Maryland; and in his career he has been—among other things—a teacher, camp counselor, school chaplain, Sunday school teacher, Christmas pageant coordinator, adult education leader, Alpha course director, and of course a parish priest at heart.
Matthew met the love of his life, Danielle in freshman year of college; and the couple married in 2006. They have two daughters: Maria (age 13) and Grace (age 11). The family enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors, playing with their mostly-well-behaved dog Clover, and a good campfire... s'mores anyone?
